Safe for children, pets, and our fragile diva skin....; )
Lemon eucalyptus, pennyroyal, citronella, tea tree oil, thyme, rosemary, cedarwood, lemongrass (all are essential oils) and then ....yes...neem oil...but, you cannot smell it. You do have to reapply it more often than deet...but...well, price to pay.
I'm pretty sure everyone already knew about this...but, just in case. This came from the toner topic.

Wed, June 17, 2009 - 8:33 AMRosemary is a big no-no for people/pets who have seizures - the rest, as far as I know, are safe. Great idea! -

Re: Home made bug repellant
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 9:11 AMWell I was reading about Neem oil being used inter-vaginally for birth control, and came across someone who said her neem soap actually had a warning on it for pregnant/people trying to get pregnant. I just want people to be careful. I know it does work internally as birth control, but I'm not sure about it being externally safe.
I just did a Google search and found this;
gerd.emedtv.com/neem/neem-...gnancy.html
and this;
www.discoverneem.com/neem-safe...fects.html
Seems that there are conflicting views as to whether or not it's safe externally for men, or women trying to conceive, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. I would avoid it to be safe if I were in any of those situations. -

Re: Home made bug repellant
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 9:21 AMBTW, I'm still trying to find out how I can order some of the neem gel that they use for birth control from India. I can use traditional birth control, and don't want to use chemical spermicide in my cooch. Condoms are great, but when you're in a long relationship, there's just something about skin on skin heheh. Sorry for the bug repellant derailment. -
