What To Do About Under Chin Waddle?

topic posted Wed, September 6, 2006 - 7:41 PM by  Theresa Pars...
Although the rest of my face and hands are looking pretty good for my age I'm starting to get that crepey little waddle under my chin. I definately can't afford, or want, surgery, so do any of you Divas have an exercise or something that has worked for you or someone you know? Thanks

For photographs, it also helps if you press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Check it out in the mirror. It's pretty amazing. While it may not be a cure, it's a pretty good quick fix.

Unfortunately, this runs in the women in my mother's family. My mother has some sort of little exerciser thingy that she uses to exercise the muscles. I'm not sure where she got it, but you put it in and I think you move your mouth so that the ends are pushed together--back and forth.

I have a waddle. Its genetic.

A friend of mine taught me to do out and down for pictures. You stick your neck out a bit and then point your chin down. I haven't had a double chin in a picture since.

As far as fixing the problem goes, I was told you need to exercise your neck. Not exactly sure how one exercises their neck.

Your body needs exercise to stay in shape; the same is true of your face.
        1. Lay on your back on the bed and lift your head. Try to hold your head up for a 20 count (you'll be amazed at how heavy your head is!). If that's too hard or not convenient, press your hands against your collarbone and push your head forward like a turtle out of it's shell.
        2. Picture the thing you dislike the most, and stick your tongue out as far as it will go. Hold for a few seconds then draw it back. Start with ten times per session then work up to twenty. Not only good exercise, but good therapy as well.
        3. Try neck slides (moving your head from side to side like a cobra). Neck slides exercise the muscles directly underneath your chin.
        4. Part your mouth slightly and bring your lower lip over your upper one, as if you are pouting. Keep the pouting postion while saying the word "up" at least twenty times. Vary the rhythm to find the patterns that please you most and seem to cause the firmest sensation under your chin.
        5. After each exercise, finish off with a big yawn to stretch and relax.
