i recently ran out of my shampoo (redken..the good stuff), and the only shampoo in my shower was johnson's baby shampoo. i've been using it for 3 days now, and my hair feels really nice!! (of course i use a moisturizing conditioner along with it.)

i've heard that baby shampoo may be damaging to color treated hair (even if it feels healthy) because baby shampoo is high in detergent. is this true? it think "tear free" made me think it was gentle on the hair. what do you all think?

Baby shampoo is too alkaline for adult hair, especially color-treated hair. It's made to wash out peanut butter and other goodies that little ones tend to get in their hair. It may be OK to use in a pinch, but I wouldn't rely on it as a "regular" shampoo. Over time, anything too alkaline can be tough on hair, leaving it rough, more prone to damage, etc. I would recommend you switch back to your regular "adult" shampoo (unless, of course, you regularly get peanut butter in your hair :oD ).

Hey, I'm a brand new member, so you'll forgive me if this has been adressed before, but I find that a change in shampoo once in a while always produces good results, baby shampoo or not. So I like to cycle thru my favorite shampoos.
