For some reason, my usual eye cream has quit working and I'm hunting for a new one. I'm looking for something (matters not whether it's dept store brand or drugstore brand) that diminishes the looks of lines and wrinkles, brightens and gives great moisture to the eye area. I'm a diva over 40 so any ideas for that age group would be appreciated!

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 7:21 PMI just bought one that sounds interesting, but obviously it's too soon to tell if it's any good yet. It's the 3-in-one eye cream by Patricia Wexler, a well-respected NYC derm who seems to be one of the go-to people for a lot of skin care articles. The whole line actually sounds pretty interesting, and isn't ridiculously expensive (mostly in the $20-40 range). Anyhow, I'm curious to find out more about her line, and I'll report back when I've used the eye cream awhile.
BTW, Elle & Allure had $10 off coupons this month for anything in the line sold at Bath & Body Works stores. -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 8:01 AMNot quite the info you were askign for, however, I realized a few years ago, that what you use to take off eye makeup is just as important! I'm over 50 and though I will do just about anything with eye makeup to achieve an effect or look, I am very particular about my eye makeup remover! -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 12:08 PMOkay, this may sound prtty weird, but I've started dabbing castor oil just around my eyes where the lines are most visible. I switched from my usual cod liver oil because now that I have a lover who occasionally sleeps over the smell is...uh...a little off putting (though the cats find me irresistible!) Anyway, I began using it about 3 weeks ago and I've received quite a few comments on my skin. Even my biz partner, who sees me every day, commented on how moist and young my skin is looking these days.
I can only use it at night as it is such a rich emollient that it needs time to absorb. Then in the morning I cleanse with plain old Pond's Cold Cream, follow with Thayer's Rose Petal and Witch hazel toner and then my Regenerist products from Oil of Olay. I'm pretty happy with my regimen and the castor oil is even better than the fish oil was!

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 1:00 PMI use Mary Kay's eye makeup remover. Although I do not use any of their other products, I haven't used anything other than their eye makeup remover for years!!! I know how delicate the skin around eyes are and noticed that even in some very young women there was already damage which made them look older.
I also love that it doubles for other uses--
When I was using khol, it cleaned up the spill-over from my face beautifully. When trying different lipsticks to see which works best for my costuming, I can use it to remove every bit of the color without worrying about chapped lips! And my favorite, since I am a tribal style dancer is how easily it "erases" my facial markings if I make a mistake. I also use it to gently remove the markings before washing the rest of my makeup off--so no scrubbing!
Now what's that disclaimer? Oh, yeah--I don't sell it, nor do I own stock in the company (wish I did!). -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Sun, March 16, 2008 - 1:08 PMDoes anyone else have trouble with oily skin? If I find a nice intense moisturizer for the crow's foot zone, it inevitably clogs my pores along the cheekbone. -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Mon, March 17, 2008 - 9:44 AMI have the same problem, in that when I use my homemade castor, almond and jojoba remover, it gives me oily cheekbones and sometimes blackheads/spots :|

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Mon, March 17, 2008 - 10:07 AMMy skin is very oily still and I had to stop using my vitamin e oil because it was just too heavy. I am trying to get rid of all my spots and blackheads, whiteheads, milia, etc. So I am on a quest for the holy grail product. -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 7:25 PMI use the Avon 2 in one - it's a little white pot with a gel on one side for the upper eye area, and a cream for below the eye. I'm too lazy at the moment to run upstairs and look at the exact name. It was fairly inexpensive, and I have definitely noticed a lifting in the upper eye area - I was actually considering a minor lift, now I wouldn't. I don't have a lot of wrinkles or crows feet, but I think it's improved the entire area. -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Wed, March 26, 2008 - 12:17 AMpricey but the big bottle lasts me at least a year and does not lose efficacy that I can tell .
i was starting to notice papery dryness under my eyes and a tired look ... especially in the frigid, dry midwest winter at the time ...
after a couple of weeks of using the Chanel undereye cream, i could see
substantial improvement,
therefore, once a year i treat myself to the big bottle, about $80.
i'm sure there less expensive products available that work as well
I just know this stuff is really great.
my two extravagnce in life are skin and haircare. -

Re: eye cream/moisturizer for divas over 40
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 1:46 PMThere are a lot of things many would find scandalous, but I feel perfectly at ease admitting them about myself.
However, this is something I am inexplicably embarassed about divulging: I bought a skin care product off an infomercial.
Now, I wouldn't bring this up unless I thought you 40+ hotties out there might benefit, but I actually really like the stuff. It's the Jane Seymour Natural Advantage line. It's basically a retinol-based slow skin peel. I've been using it over the winter, as the retinol stuff is BAD to expose to sunlight. It's actually doing a decent job at peeling off some of the minor freckles, pores & wrinkles. Those with sensitive skin may need to be careful, but my oily skin can take a little abuse.
There. That was cathartic. But don't tell anyone else, m'kay?
