anyone have any tips for applying these so they look natural?

I can't get the glue on, then I can't get them straigh. I went for broke and bought the shu umera ones, figuring better quality would be easier, but no go.

I think it is a case of "practice makes perfect"... a steady hand and good hand-eye coordination are necessary. Lay down a thin line of glue against the lashline, then apply the false lash very slowly. Try applying it from the inside of the eye to the outside, carefully laying the edge down very close to your natural lash line, like a centimeter at a time. Also, you may want to try the single-lash kind. They look very natural. I have blonde eyelashes, so I have to be very precise when using false lashes, to avoid the obvious lighter-color edge. Another tip -- after they are applied, use eyeliner to cover any gaps, and smudge it a bit.

      great tips!

One big one that took me forever to learn is to apply the glue and then you need to wait for about a minute for it to become "sticky". If you try to put them on before that they just pop right off and leave that glue crap on your face...

Try starting with the outer edge, and place the fake eyelash right where your eyelashes stop, as close to the lashline as you can get, and then, like Kim said, just ease it down a little at a time.

I also find that "rolling" the lash just a bit, so that it's not straight, but curved helps it follow your lash line better without trying to pop off.

Other than that, she's right, it's practice. Try getting the cheap ass ones so you can practice with those, instead of the cool expensive ones.

Waiting for the glue to get tacky is the best tip! Thanks for saying that. It took me forever to learn not to stick those suckers right on my eyelid.

there is also this great eyelash glue that you can get at like walgreens or something. It's called Duo and i swear by it. it also helps to have a qtip or something t o help poke it into place.

            Really? I didn't find Duo to be so great. Maybe mine was sitting around the store too long. I just started using it and I'm find that it doesn't get tacky enough soon enough. At least, compared to Andrea's brand. It says to wait 30 seconds, but after a minute, its still really milky. And its bubbly. Whats with that? I'll be going back to Andrea's after I give Duo a longer chance. I hope it gets better! :}

Just to add, I use a toothpick as a poker. It helps with moving the lashes around and also, if you need to add a dab more glue on to the corners, you don't have to take the whole lash off, just put a little onto the pick and pull up on the lash and add it. Works for me!

another question, if im are going to be wearing fake lashes, should i also put mascara on my natural lashes?

I personally don't like to wear mascara, so I just wear the fake eyelashes. So, I'll curl my lashes then put the fakes on. The natural one's are there, but they're not that noticable.

But I've heard different things to wearing mascara and falsies. Some put mascara on the natural lashes and then put the fake one's on. Some put the fake one's on and mascara both the natural and the fakes together. I think the latter looks neater, but I think its mostly personal preference.

anyone try those semi-permanent lashes? They are supposed to last six weeks? I just got a thing in the mail about them. I've never heard of them before.

I use spirit gum with false eyelashes -- otherwise, nothing else works, or i accidentally pull them off when i've forgotten that I'm wearing them.

(i'm lucky my body's pretty hearty, and this doesn't bother me)

I apply the false lashes, let them set, then use mascara to blend them in... that way, you can also shape the fakies into a more 'natural' or desired shape.

spirit gum???? And it doesn't bother your eyes?

Yikes, I made the mistake ONCE of using spirit gum around my eyes. I had glued tiny rhindstones across my lids like eyeliner. The fumes from the spirit gum made my eyes water. Taking them off was difficult and a little painful. My eyelids were irritated for a few days after that.

                          nope.

My eyes just aren't super sensitive to it.... but I also make double sure to let it get "tacky" first and not put it on wet....

I have to wear the super drag-a-licious eyelashes for this show I'm in and if i didn't use the spirit gum I would sweat them off.... i swear.

Plus I have a bad habit of forgetting I'm wearing eyelashes and pulling them off.

                          ;)

My mom tried those semipermanent lashes. She LOVED them at first, she says that after you wear them for a couple of weeks though that you have to really start paying attention to them. They are individual clusters, so when they begin to loosen... and fall off... in clumps... in public, you can get to looking pretty stupid. I would think that if you were prepared for that, you could check em in the morning and re-glue any loose ones? I want to try them.

Just my .02. Waiting for it to get tacky is key, as is rolling them until they are flexible, they last much longer when not cemented into the shape of the packaging. Also, I use tweezers the same way somebody else says they use toothpicks- to get it in place and keep my clumsy fingers out of the way. Also, for me, it works best to start with completely naked eyes, no make-up to latch on to, and then I add mascara and eyeliner afterwords. I have a tendency to rub my eyes and it latches on better to skin than makeup. I don't have a fave glue- but I just use rite aid liquid eyeliner to paint over them, and then I keep them in a nice box until next use. I love fake eyelashes. Oh, just remembered. My little sister went to the Mac counter to get her make-up done before her prom and needed to buy $40 of makeup to get it done. So she bought fake eyelashes and the girl attached them. They looked great! And the girl told her how to do it next time, so it was application and a lesson. Cool, now I want to do it. Cara
